Neuromuscular Disorders

Neuromuscular disorders include a wide-range of diseases affecting the peripheral nervous system, which consists of all the motor & sensory nerves that connect the brain & spinal cord to the rest of the body. Progressive muscle weakness is the predominant condition.

Video EEG

A video EEG records what you are doing or experiencing on video tape while an EEG test records your brainwaves. The purpose is to be able to see what is happening when you have a seizure or event and compare the picture to what the EEG records at the same time.

Stroke

There are two main causes of stroke: a blocked artery or leaking or bursting of a blood vessel. Some people may have only a temporary disruption of blood flow to the brain, known as a transient ischemic attack (TIA), that doesn't cause lasting symptoms.

Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a central nervous system disorder in which brain activity becomes abnormal, causing seizures or periods of unusual behavior, sensations and sometimes loss of awareness. Epilepsy affects both males and females of all races, ethnic backgrounds and ages.

Spinal Disorder

Spinal cord disorders can originate from either outside or inside the spinal cord. Damage from the outside of the cord is caused by compression of the spinal cord or injury. The spinal cord may be compressed due to a bone fracture, spinal degeneration or abnormalities.

ADHD

ADHD is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders of childhood. It is usually first diagnosed in childhood and often lasts into adulthood. Children with ADHD may have trouble paying attention, controlling impulsive behaviors or be overly active.

Movement Disorder

The term movement disorders refers to a group of nervous system (neurological) conditions that cause either increased movements or reduced or slow movements. These movements may be voluntary or involuntary. Common types of movement disorders include: Ataxia.

EMG

Electromyography (EMG) is a diagnostic procedure to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control them (motor neurons). EMG results can reveal nerve dysfunction, muscle dysfunction or problems with nerve-to-muscle signal transmission.

Paralysis

Paralysis is the loss of the ability to move some or all of your body. It can have lots of different causes, some of which can be serious. Depending on the cause, it may be temporary or permanent. Most paralysis is due to strokes or injuries such as spinal cord injury or a broken neck.

Cranio-cervical pain

Craniocervical junction disorders are abnormalities of the bones at the base of the skull and top of the spine. They can cause headaches, pain and cervical instability. These types of disorders can happen at birth or develop after an injury.

Headache

Headaches are a very common condition that most people will experience many times during their lives. The main symptom of a headache is a pain in your head or face. This can be throbbing, constant, sharp or dull. It can be treated with medication, stress management and biofeedback.

Vascular Brain Diseases

Cerebrovascular disease includes stroke, carotid stenosis, vertebral stenosis and intracranial stenosis, aneurysms, and vascular malformations. Restrictions in blood flow may occur from vessel narrowing (stenosis), clot formation, blockage or blood vessel rupture.
